Who We Are
Women and Children Legal Research Foundation, which is acknowledged with acronym of (WCLRF), has been established by a group of dedicated and young professional women to contest for and expedite the enabling environment for women and children to live in dignity, free of violence and discrimination. Along these lines, the WCLRF outlook in long-term is focused on meaningful access to justice, rights, education, public decision-making process and political participation as well inclusion in the social, cultural and economic prospects for all in particular for women, children, and marginalized and neglected population in communities.
In March 2002, WCLRF was registered with Ministry of Economy, Government Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as non-governmental and not for Profit organization. The purpose of the existence is to defend and protect human rights notably, women and children rights through an innovative advocacy & lobbying initiatives, research and studies on the relevant issues, public awareness, networking and strategic partnerships for mobilization and empowering communities over gender, culture, social and economic lens.
During the course of previous strategic plan implementation (2015-2020), WCLRF interventions were focused on responding to the injustice, caused by traditional and customary practices against women and children and enabling them to claim and advocate for their legal rights, mainly the rights for dignity, equality, education and access to justice. Although, the organization is remained and stick- on with same vision in its new strategic plan for (2023-2027), nevertheless a slight change in strategic goals & objectives in addition to in operational approaches and strategies explaining how to deliver its mission to reach and scope the ambition goals. It indicates that WCLRF will undertake tailor-made interventions and operational approaches contextualized to the current political and social environment settings including humanitarian actions, whilst keeping focus on constituencies’ requirements, and donor agencies inclination in prospective of their funding obligations.
